Common Installation Mistakes! JUNGEBLODT-KPMBOLT Super Nut Avoidance Guide

JUNGEBLODT-KPMBOLT super nuts are widely used in high-end equipment such as petrochemical, gas, aerospace, wind power and rail transit. However, many fastening instability problems are caused by empirical and irregular installation operations. The precision multi-jackbolt structure of KPMBOLT super nuts is completely different from traditional nuts, and wrong operation modes will lead to unbalanced stress, preload attenuation and sealing failure.
This article sorts out eight common on-site installation mistakes, clarifies the hazards of each wrong operation, and provides standardized correct processes to help construction personnel achieve accurate and long-term stable fastening.
1. One-step full torque tightening. Direct full torque assembly causes unbalanced stress and local gaps on the flange surface, leading to loosening and leakage during operation. The correct method is two-stage diagonal tightening: 50% pre-tightening for leveling, then 100% final tightening.
2. Lubrication on flange sealing surfaces. Oil film on the pressure-bearing surface will cause preload loss and sealing failure. Only thread parts need lubrication, and the sealing surface must be kept clean and dry without oil contamination.
3. Inconsistent jackbolt torque. Manual empirical tightening leads to torque deviation and unbalanced stress distribution. All jackbolts must adopt unified standard torque with calibrated tools to ensure overall locking stability.
4. Assembly with residual rust and impurities. Dirty threads and base surfaces will scratch precision threads and cause virtual preload. Complete cleaning must be carried out before installation to ensure gap-free fitting.
5. Violent knocking and forced alignment. Violent operation causes nut deformation and internal thread damage. Manual smooth pre-alignment is required, and forced assembly is forbidden.
6. Mixed use of mismatched bolts. Low-strength bolts are prone to tensile deformation under standard preload. Only matched bolts of specified strength grade can be used.
7. Disordered lubricant replacement. Inferior oil causes thread seizure and corrosion. Special high-temperature and anti-seize grease must be selected according to working conditions.
8. No recheck after installation. Stress rebound leads to slight torque attenuation. Torque recheck and correction are required 10 minutes after fastening to ensure long-term stability.
Field applications prove that avoiding the above mistakes reduces fastening failure rate by more than 90%. As the exclusive authorized agent in China, Shanghai Panyu Machinery provides standardized installation training and on-site technical guidance to ensure stable operation of industrial equipment.
